Some Frequent Questions Regarding BSTN Residential Program
1) Who qualifies for BSTN’s residential service?
DMRS authorizes services from BSTN after an independent assessment has indicated the client would benefit from such a service rather than other residential services.
2) What are the criteria for Admission to BSTN Residential Services?
There are three main criteria established by BSTN that an individual must meet in order to be referred to our program:
The individual is a person with developmental disabilities or mental illness;
Evidence is presented showing that because of the mental disability, the individual:
Is presenting extremely dangerous behaviors that represents a substantial risk of physical impairment or injury to him/herself or others; the person requires continuous supervision, including awake overnight staff so that he is not a danger to him/herself or someone else.
Has a history of significant behavioral or psychiatric problems that are now not apparent due to the design or intensity of services being received and the rate level does not cover the cost of such services. Less intensive services will likely result in recurrence of previous problems
Needs assistance with his/her most basic personal physical needs including care with a fragile health condition.
The interested individual has not been successfully and appropriately habilitated in an available, less restrictive setting.
3) Are you receiving new clients?
Yes, however, due to the extensive planning and assessment to customize services we accept an average of 8 clients each year. To inquire about openings contact the BSTN office.
